Kamala Harris makes statement after election loss

US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris stated in her speech that she accepts the election defeat and said they would carry out a peaceful transfer of power to Donald Trump.

Harris, who lost the presidential election held in the US on November 5, gave a speech to her supporters at the Howard University campus in Washington.

Acknowledging that they lost the presidential election to her Republican rival Trump, Harris said, "We must accept the results of this election. I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I also told him and his team that we will assist in this transition of power to ensure it happens peacefully."

Noting that their loyalty is not to Trump but to the Constitution, Harris emphasized, "I accept that I lost this election, but I am not giving up the fight that fueled this campaign."

Arguing that they did a successful job throughout the election campaign, Harris thanked everyone who supported her and asked them to continue working for the values they believe in.

In the US presidential election held on November 5, Republican Trump surpassed 270 delegates and earned the right to become the country's 47th president.

Trump will officially take office by taking the oath on January 20, 2025.
