KFOR: Claims that NATO launched missiles at Iran are baseless

The NATO Kosovo Force (KFOR) has issued a statement regarding the rising tensions in the region due to attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, as well as disinformation activities circulating on social media.

In the statement made by KFOR, it was noted that claims were spreading on social media alleging that missiles were launched at Iran from NATO facilities in Kosovo. KFOR officials underscored that NATO is absolutely not involved in such an activity, recalling that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has clearly stated that the alliance is not participating in the current air operations.

KFOR also noted that the US continues to play a key role in supporting security and regional stability in Kosovo. It was stated that the US serves within KFOR with approximately 600 soldiers, leads the Regional Command-East (RC-East), and contributes to many activities ranging from daily patrols and exercises to engagement with local communities and reconstruction and economic development projects.

KFOR in Kosovo

The KFOR mission in Kosovo, which has a multinational structure, includes soldiers from 28 different countries. While the US provides the largest contingent, countries such as Turkey, Germany, Italy, France, and the UK also make significant contributions. Countries like Lithuania and Montenegro are represented with a limited number of troops. KFOR once again emphasized that it continues its mission to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all people living in Kosovo, based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
