Khamenei's first statement on the agreement: I held a different view, but I authorized the deal with the US

Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a written statement regarding the memorandum of understanding signed between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump.

Khamenei said, "Enthusiastic and loyal Iranian nation, as you are all aware, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the presidents of Iran and the US. In reaching this process, officials made great efforts with good intentions and a sense of responsibility. However, during this process, the US President resorted to various tools of pressure out of desperation."

The Iranian Supreme Leader noted that while he held a different view regarding the agreement, he authorized the process because Pezeshkian committed to protecting the rights of the Iranian people.

Khamenei stated, "I essentially held a different view, but I authorized this process because the President, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Supreme National Security Council, committed on his own behalf and on behalf of other members to protecting the rights of the Iranian nation and the resistance front, and clearly stated that he assumes responsibility."

"A face-to-face meeting will not mean the acceptance of the enemy's views"

Emphasizing that no agreement would be accepted if the US side makes demands, Khamenei declared, "From this moment on, we will wait for the specified conditions to be met."

The Iranian Supreme Leader also made a statement regarding the possibility of a potential face-to-face meeting between the parties in the future. Khamenei said, "It is clear that a potential future face-to-face meeting will not mean the acceptance of the enemy's views."
