Knife attack on subway in Taiwan: 3 injured
A knife attack took place on a subway in Taiwan. Three people were injured, one of them seriously, in the attack. The assailant was neutralized by bystanders and handed over to the police.
Taiwan's Taichung city subway was the scene of a knife attack. A 20-year-old assailant attacked people on the subway at random with a knife and a cleaver he pulled from his bag. Three people were injured in the attack, one of them seriously.
PASSENGERS INTERVENED
Passengers attempted to stop the assailant. One passenger defended themselves by taking the cleaver from the attacker's hand, while another passenger tried to stop the attacker with an umbrella.
With the intervention of other passengers, the assailant was neutralized and handed over to the police with injuries.
Subway services between the Wenxin Chongde and Wenxin Yinghua stations, where the attack occurred, were briefly suspended.
