Kremlin explains why Trump did not impose tariffs on Russia
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the customs tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump 'bypassed' Russia due to the poor state of bilateral trade.
Evaluating the new customs duties that US President Trump has implemented for many countries, Peskov explained Russia's absence from this list by the very low level of bilateral trade.
Peskov added that, in general, they do not see it as very likely that the new American tariffs will benefit Russia.
Furthermore, Kremlin Spokesperson Peskov pointed out that the global economy is reacting emotionally to the new American tariffs and is in a state of turmoil.
While there are 185 countries on the list of new customs duties announced to the public by Donald Trump, the fact that Russia was not on the list had drawn attention.
