With the participation of Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiyev and Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov, a ceremony was held at Ala-Too Square to hoist the country's flag, which had its design modified.

The ceremony was also attended by Secretary of State Suyunbek Kasmambetov, Minister of Emergency Situations Boobek Ajikeyev, Chief of General Staff Ruslan Mukambetov, Mayor of Bishkek Aibek Junushaliev, as well as Jusup Matayev and Bekbosun Jaychibekov, who were involved in the design of the national flag in 1992.

As the military band played the Kyrgyz National Anthem, soldiers hoisted the giant flag.

The "Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on State Symbols of the Kyrgyz Republic," prepared by Parliament Speaker Shakiyev and Member of Parliament Ulan Primov, was approved by President Sadyr Japarov on December 22, 2023. Accordingly, the wavy sun rays on the country's flag were straightened, and the number of lines within the motif in the center was increased.
