According to reports in the Lebanese press, the cousin and daughter of Bashar al-Assad were caught while attempting to leave Lebanon using fake passports.
The wife and daughter of Assad's cousin, Dureid al-Assad, were detained at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut.
It was reported that the individuals from the Assad family, whose names were not disclosed, were detained for attempting to leave Lebanon with fake Syrian passports.
NO OFFICIAL STATEMENT
It is unknown whether the family of Dureid, who is the son of Bashar al-Assad's uncle Rifaat al-Assad, had been residing in Lebanon previously or if they arrived in Lebanon following the fall of Assad.
No official statement has been made by Lebanese authorities regarding the matter.
Bashar al-Assad's uncle, Rifaat al-Assad (86), had served as a deputy to Hafez al-Assad.
