Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati: 'We received guarantees from the US'
Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati, who has been in contact with US officials to de-escalate tensions in Beirut and the south, stated that Israel is under pressure but there is no guarantee against attacks.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced that they received guarantees from US officials last week aimed at de-escalating tensions in Beirut and the Dahiyeh region.
'WE RECEIVED GUARANTEES FROM THE US'
In an interview with the Qatar-based Al Jazeera television, Mikati said, "In the contacts we made last week, we received a kind of guarantee from US officials to de-escalate tensions in Beirut and the south, and US officials are serious about pressuring Israel to reach a ceasefire." However, Mikati also emphasized that there is no guarantee that Israel will not attack important facilities, the airport, or ports in Lebanon.

CLAIMS OF AN ORDER FROM NETANYAHU
Following the attack by Hezbollah on the Golani military base south of Haifa, Israeli state television KAN reported that "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the army to stop attacks on Beirut in line with the request of US President Joe Biden." However, these claims contradicted a statement by a high-ranking Israeli official speaking to the local press. The official stated that the claims that the Tel Aviv administration had suspended airstrikes on Beirut did not reflect the truth and expressed that the attacks would continue.

NO ATTACKS SINCE OCTOBER 10
Following the phone call between Netanyahu and Biden on October 9, the Israeli army appears to have halted airstrikes on Beirut.
After two attacks carried out in the city center of Beirut on October 10, no attacks have been carried out against designated targets in the Dahiyeh region. However, the fact that the sounds of Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were heard again after the attack in Haifa shows that tension in the region persists.
