Lebanese Prime Minister's X account hacked

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that his account on the social media platform X had been hacked. Salam stated that following the unauthorized access to his account, his previous post regarding Israel's attacks in southern Lebanon was deleted.

In a new post from his account, Salam stated that he was reposting his deleted message, noting, "I am reposting what I wrote yesterday; it turns out that someone managed to access my account and delete these."

WHAT WAS IN THE DELETED POST?

In Salam's deleted post, he criticized the attacks, destruction, and infrastructure damage carried out by Israel in the villages and towns of Al-Mansouri, Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Kafr Tibnit, and others in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Prime Minister had described the systematic destruction of homes, residential areas, infrastructure, public institutions, and places of worship as "a serious violation of the principles and rules of international law and international humanitarian law." Salam emphasized that labeling structures in the region as military facilities cannot justify the destruction and displacement.

In his message, Salam also stated, "Lebanon's sovereignty, the safety of its people, and the right of those living in the south to return to their lands and rebuild their villages are not up for negotiation."

The statement came after the Lebanese army reported that Israel's attacks in the south were preventing the army from deploying in the region and hindering the return of civilians to their homes. The Lebanese army had announced that Israeli forces had blown up civilian facilities and homes in the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah in the Nabatieh Governorate.

The framework formula signed between Lebanon and Israel in Washington on June 26 envisions the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and the deployment of the Lebanese army in the withdrawn areas. It was stated that the parties had reached an agreement on a "pilot regions" mechanism during their meetings in Rome, and that the first implementation was initiated in Zawtar al-Gharbiyah at the end of July.

According to Lebanese authorities, 4,335 people have lost their lives, 12,277 people have been injured, and more than 1 million people have been displaced in Israel's attacks that began on March 2.
