The statement from the agency noted that operations against illegal migrants without residency permits in Libya are ongoing.

It was recorded that 163 illegal migrants of Bangladeshi nationality were deported to their home country from Benina Airport in Benghazi on June 10, in cooperation with the IOM.

On the other hand, a statement from the Libyan Special Tasks Department indicated that 49 irregular migrants of Sudanese, Ethiopian, and Bangladeshi nationality were captured on a boat off the coast of Misrata.

The statement, which also reported that 2 Libyan human smugglers were detained, shared the information that the migrants were handed over to the public prosecutor's office for legal proceedings to be initiated against them.

Libya is seen as a departure point for irregular migrants who want to reach Europe illegally via the Mediterranean.
