French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed outgoing Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu as the country's new prime minister.
Following the fall of Prime Minister François Bayrou's government yesterday after failing to secure a vote of confidence in the National Assembly, the country's new prime minister has been determined. French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed outgoing Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu as the country's new prime minister.
The French Presidency stated that Macron has asked Lecornu to consult with all political forces in parliament to reach a consensus on the budget and other policies before forming his cabinet.
Lecornu will have to save France from a financial impasse and suppress mass protests. Nationwide demonstrations are planned in France for tomorrow, followed by a larger-scale union strike on September 18.
Lecornu has become the fourth prime minister to take office in France in the last year.
