Major earthquake in Nepal: Deaths and injuries reported
In the 5.6-magnitude earthquake that occurred in Nepal yesterday evening, 56 people lost their lives and many others were injured.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced that the epicenter of the 5.6-magnitude earthquake was 42 kilometers south of Nepal's Jumla district.
MANY DEAD AND INJURED
Officials had reported that 20 people died in the Rukum district due to the earthquake and that many houses were destroyed. Stating that 17 people lost their lives in the Jajarkot district, officials added that search and rescue operations are ongoing in the mountainous regions.
According to the AFP news agency, the death toll has risen to 56.
Pointing out that the death toll is expected to rise in the morning hours, officials noted that communication has been cut off with many villages.
