The United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced that a 6.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded 35 kilometers northeast of the Aras-Asan region.

No tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of approximately 30.5 kilometers. The USGS had reported earlier today that a 7 magnitude earthquake occurred off the eastern coast of Mindanao Island, but later updated the magnitude of the earthquake to 6.6.

A 7.6 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE OCCURRED IN THE PHILIPPINES YESTERDAY

A 7.6 magnitude earthquake occurred near the Mindanao region yesterday, and a tsunami warning had been issued following that quake. Disaster Risk Reduction Agency head Shieldon Isidoro stated that one person lost their life in the earthquake. Following the earthquake, aftershocks occurred, most of which were greater than magnitude 5.

The Philippines, one of the countries where seismic activity is most frequent in the world, is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, also known as the Pacific Earthquake Belt.
