At the World Figure Skating Championships held in Montreal on Saturday, Ilia Malinin scored 227.79 points, the highest score ever seen, with his performance set to the music of the series Succession. The 19-year-old American skater became champion by landing 'six quadruple jumps,' a feat previously considered 'impossible' in figure skating.

Although the move performed by Malinin is frequently attempted by figure skaters, no one had ever managed to complete the entire sequence until now.

The 19-year-old skater won his first world title following his record-breaking performance in the free skate at the World Figure Skating Championships.

The 19-year-old, nicknamed the 'Quad God,' had been in third place after the short program last Thursday (March 21), and had told reporters afterward that he had experienced physical and mental difficulties while preparing for these world championships.

On Saturday, Malinin took to the ice to perform in the free skate competition from the final group. The American athlete delivered a dazzling performance, scoring 227.79, the highest score in the history of figure skating to date.

In a statement on the International Skating Union's website, Malinin said, "This means so much to me. The last few weeks have been a mental and physical struggle that I had to go through."

Malinin used the following expressions:

“I was even debating in my head whether I should come here or not. I decided at the last minute and wanted to come here to see what I could put on the ice. I am very happy to be on top right now."

Skating to music from the TV series 'Succession', Malinin opened his performance with a quadruple axel and then surprised everyone by landing five more quadruple jumps.

Rising Japanese skater Kagiyama Yuma, who was in 19th place after the short program, took second place after the final performances, while Frenchman Adam Siao Him Fa took third, with Malinin winning by a 'staggering' margin of 24 points.

Malinin added the following words to his statement:

"There was a little voice in my head: 'No matter what, you have to keep fighting, you have to keep going, no matter how bad you feel, you just have to know that you are capable of doing this."
