Medvedev's statement on Iran and nuclear weapons

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, responded to criticisms directed at him by US President Donald Trump. Medvedev stated that he condemned the US attack on Iran and expressed that this attack failed to achieve its objectives.

Reminding that Israel is not a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Medvedev emphasized that Russia remains committed to this treaty and will not provide nuclear weapons to Iran. "Russia has no intention of supplying nuclear weapons to Iran," he said.

RUSSIA'S NUCLEAR POLICY

Medvedev stated that during his time as president of Russia, he assumed responsibility for the country's nuclear power and that they are aware of the consequences of providing nuclear weapons to Iran. He also recalled that he had signed the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) with a US president and that this treaty is still in effect.

Medvedev stated that there should be no debate over which country possesses more nuclear weapons, using the phrase, "The question is, what comes next?"

US President Trump, in a post on his Truth Social account, reacted sharply to Medvedev's statement regarding the possibility of providing nuclear weapons to Iran.
