Member of parliament who argued with airport staff in Greece expelled from party
Lefteris Avgenakis, a member of parliament for Greece's ruling New Democracy party, has been expelled from the party by the decision of Greek Prime Minister and New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis following an argument with an airport staff member.
In a post on the social media platform X, Avgenakis stated, "I fully respect the decision of the Party President and Prime Minister Mitsotakis to expel me from the party's parliamentary group.
I have made a statement regarding the incident and apologized to the public."
Avgenakis, who previously served as Minister of Sports and Minister of Agricultural Development and Food under the New Democracy government, announced that he will continue his duties in parliament as an independent member.
In a video that surfaced on social media, Avgenakis was seen arguing with a staff member at the airport and pushing the person he was arguing with.
