Mexico to accept migrants deported by Trump 'conditionally': They do not want to be a 'safe third country'
Mexico has announced that it has 'conditions' for migrants to be deported from the US to Mexico. Accordingly, the US will not be permitted to send 'citizens of other countries' to Mexico.
Mexico has stated that it has conditions regarding migrants to be deported from the US. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized that they will not be a 'safe third country,' noting that they 'will only accept the return of Mexicans.'
Sheinbaum addressed the situation of thousands of irregular migrants expected to be deported from the US during her daily press conference at the National Palace.
Emphasizing that they do not want to be a 'safe third country' regarding migrants sent by the US, Sheinbaum stated the following:
''We are in constant communication regarding the possibility of citizens of other countries being sent to Mexico. As Mexicans, we do not leave someone in a difficult situation at the border to fend for themselves, and this is not a new situation for us... We are maintaining a dignified, responsible, and dialogue-oriented stance to protect our sovereignty and respect the rights of Mexicans.''

Sheinbaum stressed that while they accept their own citizens deported from the US, they do not wish to be a safe third country regarding the sending of citizens of other countries to Mexico.
According to local media, 4,094 Mexican irregular migrants have been deported since US President Donald Trump took office.
