Military activity in Russia: Civilian evacuation begins at the border
Following Ukraine's incursion into Russia's Kursk region, military activity is being reported in the neighboring Belgorod region. Belgorod Governor Gladkov stated that the evacuation of civilians from the border area has begun.
While the Ukrainian military's infiltration operation into Russian territory in Kursk continues, reports indicate that there is also military activity in the neighboring Belgorod region.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has called for the evacuation of civilians from areas near the Ukrainian border due to "enemy activity."
Stating, "I am sure our military will do everything necessary to deal with the growing threat," Governor Gladkov said they have begun moving local residents to safer areas.
So far, 11 thousand people have been evacuated to safe areas in the Belgorod region.
The number of Russian civilians displaced from the Kursk region due to Ukraine's surprise incursion has risen to 76 thousand. Most of these individuals have been placed in rapidly established tent cities.
It is reported that Ukrainian troops have advanced up to 30 kilometers deep into the border. This marks the largest cross-border operation carried out by Kyiv since the war began with Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
RUSSIAN RUBLE LOSES VALUE
Since the incursion, the Russian ruble has lost six percent of its value against the dollar.
