Milton has reached the US
The once-in-a-century Milton storm has reached the US. Thousands of people had been evacuated ahead of the storm.
Milton, expected to be the most powerful hurricane of the last 100 years, has reached the US.
Joe Biden had warned regarding the storm, "Be careful, listen to the warnings of the authorities, and find shelter."
On CNN, residents of Florida, which the storm will affect, were warned: "Write your name, surname, and blood type on your children's and your own arms with an indelible marker. This storm is deadly! Leave the region."
In a statement made by the NWS, it was stated, "If Milton stays on its path, it will be the most powerful hurricane to hit Tampa Bay in 100 years."
The statement shared the estimate that the regions most affected by the hurricane could be submerged under 3 to 4.5 meters of water and could cause large ocean waves.
According to a statement from the National Hurricane Center, it was reported that Hurricane Milton, with wind speeds reaching approximately 260 kilometers per hour, has been upgraded to a Category 5.
The statement warned that flash floods caused by the hurricane could damage both coastal and inland areas.
In a report by the Washington Post, it was reported that fuel ran out at 1,400 gas stations as many people residing in Florida tried to leave the region.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also stated in his latest announcement that the state administration has "allocated unprecedented resources" to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, and continued to warn residents to "comply with evacuation orders."
On the weather tracking website The Weather Channel, it was noted that the hurricane was expected to reach the US mainland late Wednesday night or Thursday morning, affecting a densely populated region including Florida settlements such as Tampa, Sarasota, and Fort Myers.
