Minister Fidan: "We have a historic responsibility to stop the war in Gaza"
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated at the United Nations (UN) Security Council session on Gaza, "The ongoing war in Gaza and beyond can bring neither peace nor surrender. We have a historic responsibility to stop this war."
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, spoke at the high-level Palestine session held at the UN Security Council.
Emphasizing that the humanitarian destruction in Gaza has reached serious dimensions, Minister Fidan underscored that an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region as soon as possible are essential.
"WE HAVE A HISTORIC RESPONSIBILITY"
Fidan stated, "The ongoing war in Gaza and beyond can bring neither peace nor surrender. We have a historic responsibility to stop this war."
Noting that the international community remains incapable of stopping the bloodshed in Gaza and the West Bank, Fidan remarked, "Gaza was an open-air prison. Now, it has turned into a battlefield where the Israeli Prime Minister massacres civilians by conducting military operations to extend his political survival."
Noting that the UN Security Council has once again failed to maintain international peace and security, Fidan said, "I would like to reiterate our call for the establishment of a guarantor mechanism that will ensure and oversee peace between Israelis and Palestinians."
