Missile attack from Russia on Ukraine

Russia's attacks on Ukraine continue with increasing intensity. Most recently, a missile attack on the city of Dnipro has left the region in mourning. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that 11 people have lost their lives in the attack so far, and more than 160 people have been injured. There are concerns that the death toll may rise as debris removal efforts continue.

CIVILIANS WERE THE TARGET

Zelenskyy stated that the attack targeted civilian areas. He announced that, by chance, none of the more than 500 passengers on board were killed in the attack, which specifically struck a passenger train. However, five carriages of the train were heavily damaged. It was also reported that numerous residences, schools, and other public buildings were damaged by the missile strikes.

HARSH CRITICISM AND CALLS FOR SANCTIONS AGAINST RUSSIA

Zelenskyy pointed out that Russia cannot produce the missiles used in these attacks on its own, noting that some components still come from other countries, and drew attention to the need for international cooperation on this issue.

"Connections with countries that make Russia a partner in these crimes must be severed. Sanctions must be tightened further. This is a necessity not only for Ukraine but for global peace," he said.

Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha also made statements regarding the attack on his social media account. He emphasized that the attack did not only target military objectives but also structures that belong entirely to civilians.
