Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis evaluated his relations with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following their meeting in the US for the United Nations General Assembly. Mitsotakis emphasized that this meeting did not mean that an agreement had been reached on all issues.
At the meeting, where bilateral relations between Greece and Turkey were on the table, it was emphasized that the two countries' cooperation should be deepened in various areas.
Making a statement via his Facebook account, Mitsotakis stated that an agreement had been reached, particularly on the need to increase cooperation regarding migration.
He also announced that the Turkey-Greece High-Level Cooperation Council would reconvene in 2025.
Referring to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Mitsotakis stated that Greece would not even enter into a discussion about recognition on this issue and that they would not allow their sovereignty rights to be questioned.

President Erdoğan, for his part, stated that Turkey-Greece relations could develop within the framework of a good neighborliness understanding and that this process should proceed in line with the Athens Declaration.
Erdoğan also drew attention to the seriousness of Israel's attacks in Gaza regarding the humanitarian situation there and argued that the international community must intervene in this situation.
At the end of the meeting, it emerged that both leaders agreed on the need for more cooperation on regional issues.
