A Molotov cocktail attack was carried out on the Israeli Embassy in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Following the incident, counter-terrorism units affiliated with the Romanian intelligence service arrived at the scene quickly and took the attacker into custody.

Reports in the Romanian press stated that the 34-year-old attacker threatened to set himself on fire during the act and that the incident did not cause any damage.

In a statement issued by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was said, “Earlier today, an individual, who was understood to be of Syrian origin, approached the building of the Israeli Embassy in Romania.

During a security check, he pulled out a Molotov cocktail, ignited it, and threw it toward the entrance door leading to the building's lobby. Local security forces intervened immediately and took the individual into custody.

There were no injuries or damage in the incident. The suspect was handed over to local authorities for investigation.”

Police Spokesperson Georgian Dragan stated in a press briefing that the attacker's actions were personal and not related to Israel's attacks in Gaza.
