Monastery converted into an Airbnb

In Spain, rooms originally built for nuns at the Church of the Virgin Mary, which dates back to the 6th century in Seville, are now being rented out via the Airbnb application.

According to a report in T24, the nuns began exploring room rental options a few months ago to generate income beyond the sweets they sell at the door.

MANAGEMENT OF THE ROOMS HAS BEEN OUTSOURCED

The Guardian reports that the nuns initially planned to rent out their apartments long-term after the building caretaker and his family moved out. They later decided that renting the rooms for short stays would be more logical.

Speaking to El Pais, Sister Maria Jose stated that they handed over the management of the rooms to someone else so that it would not interfere with their duties.

The rooms in the monastery can be booked for a minimum of two nights for between 90 and 180 Euros.
