Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ibrahimovic: Temporary visa requirement for Turkish citizens to be lifted

Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimovic responded to a question regarding the temporary visa requirement for Turkish citizens during a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul.

Ibrahimovic stated, "We are in constant communication with the Prime Minister. We believe that the temporary visa requirement will be lifted within 10 to 15 days." Expressing that his country is also working to align its visa policy with the European Union, Ibrahimovic added, "We believe we will achieve this alignment by the end of 2026."

Emphasizing that there has been a high volume of activity at Montenegro's diplomatic missions in Turkey following the suspension of visa-free travel, Ibrahimovic announced that they have taken steps to increase the number of personnel working at these missions in Turkey.

IT WAS REVEALED THAT THE TURKISH CITIZENS WERE INNOCENT

In October, the Montenegrin government decided to temporarily suspend visa-free travel for Turkish citizens following allegations that Turkish citizens were involved in a knife fight in the capital, Podgorica, and subsequent protests against Turkish citizens. Following the incident, racist attacks occurred against businesses owned by Turkish citizens living in Montenegro. On the other hand, the Turkish citizens who were detained due to the knife fight were released by the court after it was confirmed that they were not in the area during the incident.
