Mount Ararat symbol removed from passport stamps in Armenia

In Armenia, the change to passport stamps used for entry and exit, as part of a government decision made on September 11, has come into effect.

With the new change, the stamp used in Armenian passports, which included Mount Ararat, has been removed from practice as of today.

"WE ARE DOING THIS TO ENSURE THE CONTINUITY OF OUR STATE"

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had previously stated that the issue of removing Mount Ararat from passports had not been and could not be on the agenda in any negotiations between Armenia and Turkey, noting that this decision stemmed entirely from a security strategy.

Pashinyan said, "The element of legitimacy is of key importance in the security strategy.

We must accept Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty within the framework of internationally recognized territories and borders. We are doing this to ensure the continuity of our state," he had said.
