In a statement issued by the Public Health Agency of Sweden, it was reported that the case in question is the first time the dangerous Clade I variant of the mpox virus has been detected outside of Africa, and it was noted that the patient is in the capital, Stockholm.
The WHO declared a global public health emergency yesterday for the second time in two years due to the spread of the mpox virus.
