NASA announces: Asteroid discovered that could hit Earth in 2032
It has been reported that a newly discovered asteroid could strike Earth. In a statement from the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), it was stated that there is a 1 percent probability of impact and that the asteroid will reach Earth in 2032.

It has been noted that the asteroid named '2024 YR4' has a probability of striking Earth on December 22, 2032. The asteroid 2024 YR4 was first discovered late last December by the asteroid alarm system named ATLAS in Chile. According to NASA's statement, 2024 YR4 has been recorded as the celestial body with the highest probability of striking Earth discovered to date.
According to NASA, as research on the asteroid deepens, the 1 percent impact probability may change.
'Near-Earth Objects' (NEOs) larger than 140 meters are regularly monitored by NASA and other astronomers. Space researchers evaluate NEOs in terms of their risk of collision with Earth.
NEOs are given a 'Torino' impact score between 0 and 10. According to the Torino scale, 0 indicates no probability of impact, while 10 indicates that a collision is certain and that Earth will be destroyed. The scale also evaluates the risk that NEOs pose to Earth. Accordingly, even if an NEO were to strike Earth, it is given a low score if it does not pose a serious threat.
Until 2024 YR4 was discovered, there were no NEOs that had received a score higher than zero. The asteroid is thought to be approximately 40 meters high and 91 meters wide. The object has been scaled as 'level 3' effective for December 22, 2032.
