National anthem crisis between Iran and the Taliban: Taliban representative refused to stand
The fact that the Taliban representative was the only one who did not stand during the playing of the Iranian national anthem at the opening of the International Islamic Unity Conference, which was also attended by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, has drawn a reaction from Iran.
At the opening of the International Islamic Unity Conference held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, the Taliban representative did not stand while the national anthem was being played, unlike the other participants at the conference.
This incident, which occurred while President Pezeshkian was also in the hall, was met with backlash from Iranians in the country's media and on social media, with some criticizing the invitation of the Taliban representative to the conference.
Responding to the reactions on his X social media account, Iran's Special Representative for Afghanistan, Hassan Kazemi, stated, "There is no meaning or precedent for disrespecting diplomatic principles under the pretext of banning music."
THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN PAKISTAN
Taliban officials also did not stand during the playing of the Pakistani national anthem at a ceremony held in Peshawar, Pakistan, on September 18, and Pakistan protested this situation, describing it as a "violation of diplomatic protocols."
Following this, the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar responded to the protest by Pakistani officials, stating that "the Taliban has also banned Afghanistan's national anthem due to their opposition to music."
