NATO Secretary General Rutte’s statement on Iran before the summit in Ankara: The attack was necessary

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made statements to the press ahead of the summit to be held in Ankara. Thanking Turkey for its hospitality, Rutte made assessments regarding the current state of the alliance.

In his statement, Rutte said, “NATO is now stronger. We thank Ankara for such wonderful hospitality.”

Touching upon the attacks on Iran, Rutte said, “Iran threatened the ceasefire. The attacks on Iran were absolutely necessary.” Rutte’s statement came at a time when tensions in the region remain high.

Giving messages regarding the war in Ukraine, Rutte stated that NATO is ready to support Ukraine. Describing Russia as a “long-term threat,” Rutte said the alliance will protect itself.

Rutte also made assessments regarding Denmark and Greenland, stating, “We are in a good process with Denmark and Greenland.”
