Nayib Bukele announces: El Salvador's 'free passport' initiative for 5,000 people
El Salvador President Nayib Bukele has announced that 5,000 "free passports" will be granted to highly skilled foreign professionals, such as scientists, engineers, and doctors.
El Salvador President Nayib Bukele shared a post on the X social media platform regarding skilled migration.
Noting that 5,000 "free passports", corresponding to a value of approximately 5 billion dollars, will be granted to foreign scientists, engineers, doctors, artists, and philosophers, Bukele stated that these individuals will also obtain full citizenship status, including the right to vote.
Bukele also shared that they would eliminate taxes on the transfer of assets and families for these highly skilled professionals applying for the passport, emphasizing that this program will have a significant impact on the future of El Salvador.
According to a report by CNN, this initiative by El Salvador is intended to stimulate the economy by attracting foreign investors to the country.
