Netanyahu leads in poll results despite Gaza attacks

According to a poll conducted by the Lazar Research Institute and published by the Israeli newspaper Maariv, 40 percent of the public views Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the "most suitable person" to lead the government, while 39 percent suggest former Defense Minister Benny Gantz for the same position.

Thus, for the second time since Israel launched its attacks on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Netanyahu has surpassed Gantz in the polls.

In the results of the poll conducted last week, support for Netanyahu was recorded at 42 percent, while support for Gantz was at 40 percent.

It is noteworthy that support for Netanyahu has increased in the polls despite his escalation of attacks on the Gaza Strip and the expansion of clashes with Hezbollah on the Lebanese border.

27 PERCENT OF PARTICIPANTS DO NOT WANT THE DEFENSE MINISTER

According to the poll results, 47 percent of participants want Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to continue in his post, 27 percent want him to be dismissed, and 26 percent refrained from expressing an opinion on the matter.

While 57 percent of participants stated that they believe Israel can only cope with a multi-front attack in cooperation with the US, 29 percent stated that Israel could do this on its own.

The results of the poll regarding the question of "if an election were held today," which shows that the Likud Party led by Netanyahu is ahead of other parties, also predicted that Likud would win 22 of the 120 seats in the Israeli Parliament.

PREDICTION: NETANYAHU SUPPORTERS TO WIN 51 SEATS, OPPOSITION 59

The poll results reflected a prediction that Gantz's party would come in second with 21 seats, the Yisrael Beiteinu party led by right-winger Avigdor Lieberman would win 15 seats, and the Yesh Atid party led by opposition leader Yair Lapid would win 14 seats.

In total, it was predicted that those supporting Netanyahu would obtain 51 seats in parliament, his opponents 59, and Arab members of parliament 10 seats in the Israeli Parliament.

In Israel, 61 seats are required in parliament to form a government, but an election does not appear to be on the horizon in the country, as Netanyahu rejects it, citing the attacks on Gaza as the reason.
