Netanyahu may dismiss minister who blocked attack on Lebanon: Israeli press reports
It is alleged that Netanyahu is considering dismissing Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for blocking a ground offensive into Lebanon.
It has been suggested that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering dismissing Yoav Gallant due to his opposition to a major offensive against Lebanon.
According to a report published in the Haaretz newspaper, the Prime Minister's office has been circulating messages in recent days claiming that Netanyahu had called on the Israeli military to launch a large-scale attack on Lebanon, but that the Defense Minister had opposed it.
Citing unnamed political sources, the report claims that Netanyahu is laying the groundwork to dismiss Gallant regardless of whether an attack on Lebanon takes place.
BEN-GVIR CALLS FOR DISMISSAL
Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also stated in a post on his X social media account that he has been calling on Netanyahu to dismiss Gallant for months and that it is time to do so immediately.
Ben-Gvir stated, 'A decision needs to be made in the north, and Gallant is not the right man to lead it.'
On the other hand, a report by the Israeli state broadcaster KAN stated that Netanyahu's office has denied the allegations.
