Netanyahu rejects deal proposal
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he will not accept a deal that includes the withdrawal of Israeli soldiers from Gaza in exchange for the release of hostages held by Hamas.
Netanyahu made remarks regarding the potential prisoner exchange agenda between Israel and Hamas during a speech at the Bnei David Military Academy, located in one of the illegal Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Giving the message that attacks on Gaza will continue "until their goals are reached and victory is achieved," Netanyahu said that they will not withdraw Israeli soldiers from Gaza for a possible prisoner exchange agreement and will not release thousands of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
A meeting was held in Paris on January 28, mediated by the US, Egypt, and Qatar, to discuss a new prisoner exchange and ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office had reported that the meeting was "constructive" but that there were still significant differences between the parties.
