Netanyahu signals 'temporary' ceasefire for Gaza

Speaking to Israel's Channel 14, Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed the ceasefire reached in Lebanon with US and French mediation, as well as a potential prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement in Gaza, where they have been conducting attacks since October 7.

Emphasizing that he would not accept an agreement that includes ending the attacks on Gaza, Netanyahu said, however, that they could "take a break" from the attacks.

Stating, "I am ready for a ceasefire in Gaza when we think we can ensure the release of the hostages," Netanyahu claimed that conditions for a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas have improved significantly.

Arguing that the conditions in Lebanon are different from those in Gaza, Netanyahu claimed that Israel is trying to "eliminate" Hamas, but only to prevent Hezbollah from rearming.

"CEASEFIRE IN LEBANON MAY BE SHORT-LIVED"

Touching upon the ceasefire reached in Lebanon with US and French mediation, Netanyahu argued that they accepted it on the grounds that they had "achieved exactly what they aimed for."

Suggesting that the ceasefire in Lebanon "may be short-lived," Netanyahu said he had instructed the Israeli army to prepare for "severe" attacks if Hezbollah violates the ceasefire.

Netanyahu stated, "I told the Israeli army to prepare for a severe war in the event of a serious violation of the agreement."

"TRUMP SAID THERE WILL BE NO DELAYS IN WEAPONS SHIPMENTS"

Addressing the issue of weapons shipments from the US to Israel, Netanyahu announced that Donald Trump, who was elected the 47th President of the US, told him that delays in shipments to Israel would end. 

Netanyahu said, "President Trump told me, in no uncertain terms, that there will be no delays in any weapons (shipments)."

On June 18, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu shared a video accusing the US of refusing to ship weapons to his country, and yesterday, during a cabinet meeting, he had argued that there was a "dramatic drop" in US military aid.

The US continues to provide full political and military support to Israel, which has been continuing its attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, while also continuing weapons shipments.
