Netanyahu makes statement on 'war objectives'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while facing significant backlash in his country for not agreeing to a deal with Hamas, made a statement indicating that he will continue this policy.

In a press conference he held, Netanyahu said he would insist on maintaining an Israeli presence in the Philadelphi Corridor, which is located on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.

Netanyahu said, "Achieving the goals of the war goes through the Philadelphi Corridor."

Speaking about the discovery of the lifeless bodies of 6 hostages in the Gaza Strip over the weekend, Netanyahu said, "I ask for your forgiveness for not being able to bring them back alive. We were very close, but we did not succeed. Hamas will pay a very heavy price for this."

Stating that he is fully committed to reaching a ceasefire and hostage deal, Netanyahu said, "Unfortunately, we have not seen a similar response from Hamas. We agreed on the formula presented by President Biden on May 31, and on the so-called 'final bridge proposal' on August 6. Hamas rejected both."
