Netanyahu targets Mamdani for calling him a 'war criminal'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu targeted New York City Council Member Zohran Mamdani ahead of his visit to the United States for the United Nations (UN) General Assembly meetings.

In a video message posted on his X account, Netanyahu addressed Mamdani, stating, "I am coming to the UN to expose you." The Israeli Prime Minister accused Mamdani of supporting Hamas and further alleged that he is "inciting riots and chaos" against Jews in New York.

Emphasizing in his message that he would be coming to New York for the UN General Assembly, Netanyahu said, "I am coming to the UN. I will tell the truth about you."

Mamdani had previously commented on whether the International Criminal Court's (ICC) arrest warrant would be enforced if Netanyahu were to come to New York. Mamdani had stated that the city does not have independent legal authority regarding the arrest, but that the federal government should take action in that direction.

Describing Netanyahu as an "architect of genocide," Mamdani had stated that the Israeli Prime Minister has no place in New York, adding, "I think Netanyahu belongs in The Hague. He is a war criminal charged by the ICC."
