Netanyahu: We want a real peace agreement with Lebanon that will last for generations

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a press conference regarding the ceasefire with Iran and developments concerning Lebanon. In his statement, which lasted approximately 13 minutes and was largely directed at the Israeli public, Netanyahu said that "attacks on Iran have not yet ended" at a time when the US is conducting peace negotiations with Iran in Pakistan. Netanyahu claimed, "Iran wanted to eliminate us. Now it is struggling to survive. We have much more to do. We were the first to cross the threshold of fear by taking counter-action in Iran."

Listing Israel's activities in the attacks, which he claimed included the killing of Iran's top leaders and the destruction of that country's nuclear and missile capabilities, Netanyahu alleged that Iran's enriched uranium stockpiles would also be eliminated through an agreement or other means.

Arguing that Israel's attacks prevented Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, Netanyahu said, "As part of the attacks, we neutralized 8 nuclear scientists, and today Iran has no active enrichment facility."

While claiming that "Iran is begging for a ceasefire," Netanyahu stated, "Iran is no longer the old Iran." Netanyahu also argued that there are internal conflicts within the leadership in Iran.

Netanyahu also said that he has approved direct talks with Lebanon planned to be held next week in Washington DC, the capital of the US. Stating that Lebanon reached out for direct negotiations last month, Netanyahu said, "This had never happened before. I gave my approval, but I have two conditions: We want Hezbollah to be dismantled. We also want a real peace agreement with Lebanon that will last for generations."
