UNIFIL: Israeli tank targeted an observation tower
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that an Israeli army tank fired on a UNIFIL observation tower in the morning hours, stating, "Once again, direct and deliberate fire was opened on UNIFIL positions."
Israel has once again targeted the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
In a statement issued by UNIFIL, it was said, "This morning, peacekeepers at a position near Kafer Kela observed an Israeli army Merkava tank firing at their observation tower. Two cameras were destroyed and the tower was damaged."
The statement, which noted that direct and deliberate fire was opened on UNIFIL positions once again, included the following: "We remind the Israeli army and all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property and to respect the inviolability of UN premises at all times."
No information was provided regarding whether any UN soldiers were injured in the attack.
ISRAEL HAD TARGETED PEACEKEEPING ELEMENTS 4 TIMES
The Israeli army began launching attacks on UNIFIL soldiers, whom it had demanded withdraw from southern Lebanon, as of October 10.
It was announced that 20 peacekeepers were injured in the attacks, which were repeated for 4 consecutive days.
