It has been announced that a new award category for stunt design has been added to the 100th Academy Awards. The award, which will cover films released in 2027, will bring the unsung heroes of cinema to the stage.
A new category has been added to the Oscars. The Academy has announced that an achievement award in the field of stunt design will be presented at the 100th Academy Awards in 2028. This award will cover films released in 2027.
Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang stated the following in a joint statement:
“Since the early days of cinema, stunt design has been an integral part of filmmaking. We are proud to honor the innovative work of these technical and creative artists and congratulate them on achieving this significant milestone.”
The Academy has more than 100 stunt performers in its production and technology branch.
