New development in Israel's 'pager' attack in Lebanon: International arrest warrant

Aste Dahle Sundet from the Norwegian National Criminal Investigation Service made a statement to the Associated Press (AP) news agency regarding the matter.

Sundet noted that an international arrest warrant has been issued for an employee of a Norway-based company as part of the investigation into how thousands of pagers were detonated in Lebanon.

No information was shared regarding the name or nationality of the person for whom the arrest warrant was issued.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian news agency NTB noted that the individual in question is a 39-year-old man who arrived in Norway from a different country 12 years ago and now holds a Norwegian passport.

According to NTB, the wanted person is believed to be one of the founders of a Bulgarian company thought to have supplied the pagers that exploded in Lebanon.

It is believed that the individual, who has not been heard from since last week, has fled to the United States.

THE DETONATION OF PAGERS AND RADIOS IN LEBANON

Simultaneous explosions occurred on September 17 in pagers used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon. 12 people, including two children, lost their lives in the explosions, and 2,323 people were injured.

On September 18, 25 people died and more than 608 were injured as a result of numerous radios being detonated in the country.

While Lebanese authorities hold Israel responsible for the incident, no statement has been made by Israel regarding the matter.

Clashes that have occasionally intensified have been taking place between the parties on the Israel-Lebanon border since October 8, 2023.
