New development regarding the health status of Slovak Prime Minister Fico, who was subjected to an armed attack!

Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was subjected to an armed attack in Slovakia on May 15, is recovering. Fico has been discharged from the Roosevelt University Hospital in the city of Banska Bystrica, where he was receiving treatment. In a written statement issued by the hospital, it was announced that the 59-year-old Prime Minister Fico has been placed under home care.

Hospital Director Miriam Lapunikova stated, “On this occasion, I would like to sincerely thank him for being a disciplined patient, our excellent medical team for their outstanding work, the Armed Forces for their professional approach, and all our citizens for the strong positive energy they have sent.”

Slovak media reported that Fico was brought to his home in the capital, Bratislava, after being discharged.

Prime Minister Robert Fico was subjected to an armed attack on May 15 while greeting the public in front of a cultural center in the town of Handlova, approximately 180 kilometers northeast of the capital, Bratislava, and was hospitalized with serious injuries. The police apprehended the 71-year-old attacker at the scene and took him into custody, charging him with attempted murder. In his statement, the attacker said he did not approve of the government's policies.

Robert Fico served as Prime Minister of Slovakia from 2006-2010 and 2012-2018, and was elected prime minister for the 3rd time on October 25, 2023. Fico, who suspended military aid to Ukraine and restarted dialogue with Russia, was criticized for "pursuing a pro-Russian policy."
