New tension alarm between Iran and Israel: 'We must be ready for the worst-case scenario' message

Yahya Rahim Safavi, Senior Military Advisor to Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei, made assessments regarding the current agenda in a speech he gave to university students.

'WE MUST BE READY FOR THE WORST-CASE SCENARIO'

Stating that a new war between Iran and Israel could start at any moment, Safavi used the following expressions:

“We must be ready for the worst-case scenario. There is no protocol between us and Israel or the US. There is no ceasefire. A new war with Israel could break out at any moment. We must be strong and ready.”

Safavi also argued that after a possible conflict, the US would want to project an image to the world that it is "establishing peace" through the use of force.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in a statement on August 14 that he did not consider it likely that Israel would launch an attack in the near future. Araghchi had said, “As an expert in international relations, I am not of the opinion that a war will happen soon. However, the armed forces must always be prepared, and the government must be on full alert against possible scenarios. Being prepared is the most effective factor in preventing war.”

HOW DID THE CONFLICT PROCESS BEGIN?

The tension between Iran and Israel escalated on June 13 with Israel's large-scale attack on Iran's nuclear facilities and military command structure.

In these attacks, the Chief of the General Staff of Iran, the Commander-in-Chief of the Revolutionary Guards, some high-ranking officers, and 9 nuclear scientists lost their lives.

The US also openly showed its support for Israel and carried out an attack on June 22 on three of Iran's nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordo, and Isfahan.

Iran retaliated on June 23 by targeting the US Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, and subsequently, US President Donald Trump announced on June 24 that a ceasefire had been reached between Iran and Israel.
