New US Ambassador to Turkey announced

US President Donald Trump’s nominee for the position of Ambassador to Turkey, businessman Thomas Barrack, has been officially appointed after successfully passing the votes held in the Senate General Assembly. Receiving the support of 62 senators in the first round, Barrack earned the right to take office by securing 60 "yes" votes in the final vote.

CONFIRMED BY THE SENATE IN TWO ROUNDS

In the first vote held in the Senate today, Barrack passed the first threshold in the nomination process with 62 "yes" and 36 "no" votes. In the subsequent second and official confirmation vote, his appointment was finalized with the support of 60 senators.

KNOWN FOR HIS PROXIMITY TO TRUMP

Thomas Barrack, known for his investments in the real estate sector, has been one of the figures in President Trump’s inner circle for many years. Having played an active role in Trump’s election campaigns and fundraising efforts, Barrack is referred to in political circles as "one of the names closest to the president."

Barrack is expected to begin his duties in Ankara in the coming days.
