New US President Trump speaks with Palestinian President Abbas
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who spoke by phone with newly elected US President Donald Trump, expressed his readiness to work with Trump to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.
Newly elected US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
According to a statement released by the Palestinian Authority regarding the call, Abbas congratulated Trump on his election victory and wished him success.
During the conversation, Abbas stated that he is “ready to work with Trump to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy.”
Trump, for his part, told Abbas that he would “work to stop the war” and that he looks forward to working with the Palestinian Authority leader and all relevant parties to “bring peace to the Middle East.”
