North Korea sends trash to South Korea via balloon!
The balloon crisis between North Korea and South Korea continues. Trash sent by balloon from North Korea has fallen onto the South Korean presidential compound.
South Korea announced that a balloon filled with trash sent from the North burst in mid-air, causing the waste to fall onto the presidential compound in the capital, Seoul.
According to a report by Yonhap, the South Korean military announced that new trash balloons had been sent from the North.
In a statement from the South Korean Presidential Security Service, it was noted that one of the balloons burst in mid-air while over the presidential building, and the waste from the balloon fell onto the building.
The statement indicated that the waste was collected safely and that the incident was being monitored in coordination with the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
The "balloon tension" between the two countries has been ongoing for months. North Korean defectors and activists residing in South Korea had sent large balloons filled with propaganda leaflets criticizing the Pyongyang administration to the North. In response, North Korea has sent more than 5 thousand balloons carrying trash to South Korea since the end of May.
