The Royal Norwegian Court issued a statement announcing that 89-year-old King Harald, who was on vacation in Spain with his wife, Queen Sonja, has been hospitalized.

In the statement released by the palace, it was noted that King Harald is in good condition. The statement also shared that the King's personal physician will travel to Tenerife. It was reported that an update regarding the health status of the King, who was hospitalized on Tuesday evening, will be shared today following an assessment of his condition.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said in a statement to the national press regarding the matter, "I wish our King a speedy recovery."

Harald, who ascended the throne in 1991 following the death of his father, Olav V, holds the title of the oldest living monarch in Europe. In 2024, while on vacation in Malaysia, Harald was hospitalized again due to an infection and had a temporary pacemaker implanted at a hospital there. The King was later transported to Norway, where a permanent device was installed.
