Notable nuclear move from America

In a statement released by the White House, the goals of the President Joe Biden administration regarding nuclear energy and the action plan to achieve these goals were shared.

The statement noted that approximately 20 percent of the country's electricity and half of America's carbon-free energy are provided by nuclear power, and that increasing investments in nuclear energy and related supply chains will strengthen national security, enhance energy reliability and resilience, grow America's economy, and restore the US's global competitiveness in this field.

The statement expressed that within this framework, the US aims to create 200 gigawatts of new nuclear energy capacity by 2050 by at least tripling its current capacity.

The White House statement indicated that this capacity increase will be achieved by building new nuclear power plants, increasing the capacity of existing reactors, and restarting reactors that were shut down for economic reasons. 

The statement also included short-term goals, noting that the aim is to bring 35 gigawatts of new capacity online by 2035.
