Opposition takes control after Bashar al-Assad flees, Hafez al-Assad's tomb set on fire

In the new era that began following Bashar al-Assad's departure from the country, armed opposition groups announced that they would form a transitional government. Developments in regions controlled by the opposition, led by HTS, continue to be reflected in the world press, particularly on social media.

It is alleged that statues and posters of the late Hafez al-Assad and his son Bashar al-Assad in major cities and regions under the control of opposition groups were taken down across the country amidst chants as jihadist opposition groups seized power.

Images reflected on social media showed that the tomb of the late Hafez al-Assad in Qardaha, northwest of the coastal Latakia region, was set on fire, and armed individuals walking around it were seen chanting slogans.
