Orban's Olympic criticism of Europe: 'There is no morality left in the West'

Addressing the Hungarian community at a festival held in the city of Baile Tusnad in central Romania, where Hungarians live in large numbers, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Europe has abandoned the requirements of its own interests and is following US foreign policy at the cost of self-destruction.

Orban stated that the balance of power in the world is shifting toward Asia and Russia, and that for the coming decades, perhaps even centuries, the dominant power center of the world will be Asia. Referring to China, India, Pakistan, and Indonesia as the great powers of the future, Orban said, "A change not seen for 500 years is coming. What we are facing is a change in the world order."

Emphasizing that Ukraine will never realize its hopes of becoming a member of NATO and the EU, Orban said, "We Europeans do not have enough money for this. Ukraine will return to being a buffer state." Orban claimed that international security guarantees would be provided to Ukraine through an agreement to be reached between Russia and the US.

"THERE IS NO MORALITY LEFT IN THE WEST"

Stating that "the most powerful international attraction of Russia's soft power is its anti-LGBT stance," Orban criticized Western countries for defending and promoting LGBT rights. Arguing that Christian values must be defended, Orban said, "There is no morality left in the West. We saw this at the opening of the Paris Olympics."

Orban said, "Instead of narrow-minded, delicate, avocado-eating, latte-drinking, unadulterated liberals, we need to raise a flag under which brave, nationalist, and young Christians can gather."

SUPPORT FOR TRUMP

In his speech, which lasted about 2 hours, Orban expressed his support for former President Donald Trump, the Republican Party's candidate for the US presidential election to be held in November. Orban predicted that Trump would win the election in November. The Hungarian leader argued that if Europe does not change its policy regarding Ukraine by then, the only thing it will be able to do after Trump's victory will be to accept defeat.

Claiming that Trump's goal for re-election is to turn the US from a post-nationalist liberal state back into a nation-state and that he is being punished for this, Orban said, "That is why they want to put him in prison. That is why they want to seize his assets. And when all that didn't work, that is why they wanted to kill him."

"IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT THE SOLUTION TO A DECLINING POPULATION"

Known for his anti-immigrant views and having criticized Europe for becoming a "mixed-race society," Orban argued that the solution to the problem of a declining and aging population does not lie in accepting immigrants. Orban said, "It is out of the question to replace a declining population with immigration. The West's experience in this regard is that when the number of guests exceeds the number of hosts, the place is no longer a home. This is a risk that should not be taken."
